The Department of Homeland Security has announced that the carrying of electronic devices in the cabin will continue to be allowed on flights to destinations in the U.S.A.
However, carriers must enforce stricter controls for all flights departing to the United States. As a result, some travellers to the U.S.A may face an additional security check at the departure gate as of 19 July 2017.
This control is aimed at passenger’s electronic devices.
This means that certain flight guests (selected by American authorities) may experience longer waiting and processing times at the gate.
For all other passengers, the procedure remains unchanged. Passengers who have booked a long-haul flight are requested to arrive at the airport early. For flights to the U.S.A from Zurich and Geneva, SWISS recommends flight guests to arrive at the airport 3 hours prior to departure.
